Privacy Policy

Effective 27 October 2026

No advertising, no selling your data, no tracking cookies. This page says exactly what we collect, why, and who else touches it.

FluentStrides hasn’t opened yet. This policy covers this website today and the FluentStrides app when it opens. If anything here changes, this page changes first.

Who we are

FluentStrides is run by WebStrides LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we”, “us”). We decide what happens to the information described here. You can reach us at support@fluentstrides.com, or by post at the address on our contact page.

This website

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub records the IP address and browser of each request in its logs, for security and to keep the service running; its privacy statement covers that. We set no cookies here, run no analytics here, and every font, image and script on these pages is served from this site, so a visit makes no requests to anyone else.

What the app collects

Your account

Your email address, which is how you sign in: we email you a link instead of using a password. The display name and handle you choose, how your Flo looks, and your settings.

Your learning

Which videos and episodes you watched and how much of each, the minutes you log by hand, your goals, study languages and starting hours, your grammar practice answers, and the badges and streaks that come from them. This is the product: without it there is no progress page.

Friends and your profile

Your profile page shows your name, handle and the languages you learn to anyone with the link. Friends you accept also see your hours, streak and badges, and you appear on their leaderboards unless you turn that off in Settings. We keep your friend requests, friends, blocks and any reports you make about another learner. Nobody sees which videos you watched.

Problem reports

What you write and any screenshot you add. Unless you untick “Include technical details”, a report also carries the pages you opened, error messages, failed requests, your browser and screen size, and the state of the video player in the minutes before. Sign-in tokens, passwords and email addresses are removed in your browser before it is sent, and the dialog shows you exactly what will be sent.

The importer extension

If you use our browser extension to bring a Dreaming Spanish history across, we receive that history: the days you watched and for how long. The extension uses the session already open in your browser tab; that session token never leaves the page and is never sent to us.

Payments

Paid plans are sold through Link, a service of Stripe, which acts as the seller. Link collects your payment details, billing address and email at checkout and handles them under its own privacy policy; we never see or store your full card number. We receive what we need to run your subscription: which plan you have, its status and renewal date, your billing country and a receipt history.

Page counts

We count page views to learn how people find FluentStrides. Our server passes each view to Plausible Analytics with your IP address and browser, which Plausible uses only to tell visitors apart for that day and does not store. No cookie and no advertising identifier is set, and video pages are counted as “the watch page”, never as the video you chose.

Security logs

Our servers log requests (IP address, time, what was asked for) to keep the service working and to detect abuse such as automated bulk copying, which can lock an account until it is reviewed.

Videos from YouTube

Videos play in YouTube’s embedded player, loaded from its privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) domain, and we use YouTube API Services to look up video details. When you play a video, YouTube receives your request the way it would on any site with an embedded video, and Google’s Privacy Policy applies to what YouTube collects. Using the video features also means agreeing to YouTube’s Terms of Service. Podcast episodes stream from the publisher’s own server, which sees the request as it would from any podcast app.

How we use it

We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or show ads.

Who processes it for us

These companies handle information on our behalf, only to provide their service to us:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people or the service. If WebStrides LLC is ever sold or merged, this information would pass to the new owner under this policy.

How long we keep it

Your account and progress stay while your account does. An hour you watched two years ago still counts toward your total. When you delete your account, or ask us to, it is removed, along with your reports and friend connections, within thirty days. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to seven years. Security logs are kept for a short time and then deleted. Page counts are aggregate from the start and are never tied back to you.

Your choices and rights

You can see and change most of your information in the app. You can also ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it, by emailing support@fluentstrides.com. We’re a small operation and will answer within thirty days, usually much sooner, and we may need to confirm the request comes from your account’s email.

In the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to object to or restrict our use of your data, and to complain to your data protection authority. We rely on our contract with you to run the app, on legitimate interests for security and page counts, on legal obligations for billing records, and on your consent where we ask for it.

In California and other US states with privacy laws, you have the rights above. We don’t sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it, and we won’t treat you differently for using your rights.

Where it is processed

WebStrides LLC and most of our providers are in the United States, so your information is processed there. Where the law requires it, transfers are covered by the providers’ standard contractual clauses.

Children

FluentStrides is for people 13 and older. If your country sets a higher age for using an online service without a parent’s consent, you need that consent. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we delete it.

Security

Connections are encrypted, sign-in uses one-time email links rather than passwords, and access to your data is limited to the people who run FluentStrides. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change matters to how your information is used, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
